Matthew McConaughey on meeting the real Rick from White Boy Rick in prison

Matthew McConaughey explains how he researched his role as a father struggling to keep his family together under crazy circumstances in White Boy Rick.

Based on the shocking true story, White Boy Rick is about Richard Wershe Jr. who, as a teen in the ‘80s, became the FBI’s youngest ever informant… before he wound up in prison for drug-trafficking.

Matthew McConaughey plays Rick’s dad, Richard Wershe Sr., a single father trying to raise a family amidst the chaos of his son's risky job. We caught up with McConaughey and the film's director Yann Demange at the Toronto International Film Festival, where they discussed the making of the film and getting to meet the real Richard Wershe Jr. in prison.
