Experience the moon landing for the first time on the big screen in First Man

Everyone knows the story of the moon-landing, but finally there’s a feature film to celebrate the bravery and achievement required to launch Neil Armstrong into space.

In 1969, when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon, it was famously heralded as “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” It’s a true story that has everything — bravery, triumph, adventure and true heroism. It’s hard to believe that no filmmaker has touched it before now.

True, it’s a tale that’s daunting in scale… but the real challenge is in finding a way to tell a story that the whole world knows and still make it feel fresh and compelling. Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle and actor Ryan Gosling made a smart choice by making the film a portrait of Neil Armstrong, himself. Who was the man in the spacesuit and how did he master the fear and sacrifice required for his monumental mission?

At its core, First Man is a very emotional and human story about Armstrong and his family, here on Earth. And when the film finally takes viewers into space, Chazelle places us in the action creating a visceral experience. Every sickening shake and lurch compels you to wonder if you’d have “the right stuff” to take you where the crew of Apollo 11 dared to go.

Watch Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy and Damien Chazelle share their experience on this gripping ride.

First Man launches into Cineplex theatres on October 12th.
